Are you a seasoned (6+ years) Asset Manager with experience managing infrastructure assets in the renewable energy space?

AltGen is looking for a commercially aware professional with an interest and background in the clean energy industry to manage a portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy assets for a specialist asset management company based in Cape Town.

Your varied background managing infrastructure assets in South Africa has led you to be knowledgeable of the legal, technical, operational and financial aspects of the assets you manage. This role requires you to have a legal eye, ensuring you can interpret contractual agreements within a local REIPPPP space.

Description

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a dynamic and highly professional team of management service individuals, ensuring each deliver on their core duties and meet their technical, financial, social and economic and environmental KPIs for the firm’s contractual obligations. T

his team will include managers of the financial, facility as well as operations teams for our client – which means you need to be well versed with a holistic understanding REIPPPP projects deliverables from an engineering perspective. With your persistent will to succeed in business using your financial management skills, your core responsibility will include managing a portfolio of solar PV energy companies.

You will consistently and reliably maximise your stakeholder’s asset values and manage any risks which may threaten them. Contract wise, you will be required to ensure all assets meet their contractual obligations under the project agreements stipulated.

With excellent internal and external facing communication skills, you will be required to report directly to the CFO on management of lender relationships and business planning, which will include compiling AOPs, business plans and budgets. You will be able to effectively engage with external stakeholders to the likes of the Department of Energy, Eskom, NERSA and various c-suite representatives of commercial banks.

Education requirements

  • A relevant Legal, Engineering or Finance degree
  • Applicants with additional tertiary educations such as an MBA will be preferred

Experience requirements

Above 6+ years of experience working in the South African infrastructure asset management environment

Responsibilities

Skills

  • Experience managing a diverse and professional team and ensuring they meet their defined KPIs in a timely manner
  • Excellent internal and external facing communication skills, ensuring you are able to report to various Boards of infrastructure asset companies is essential. You will need to lead negotiations and collaborate with a range of stakeholders including those in the public and private sector
  • Applicants with a proven track record of managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level within the renewable energy industry and REIPPPP is not negotiable
  • We are looking for a candidate who uses an analytical and logical thought process, enabling you to analyse and asses a range of commercial, financial, environmental, social and economic and technical issues
  • With a legal background, you should feel confident interpreting and complying with relevant contractual obligations
  • Those with experience working for a company that needs to meet enterprise development and socio-economic enterprise development obligations will be preferred
  • Your meticulous eye for detail will help you to uncover issues before they become problems whilst maintaining a high level of standard throughout your work
  • This role will require you to travel to site across rural South Africa
